With the EU’s recent anti-dumping measures targeting Chinese wood and plywood, many European buyers are now turning their attention to Vietnam as a potential alternative supply source. This shift could open new doors for Vietnam plywood industry, similar to the growth we once experienced with the U.S. market.
However, the European market brings a unique set of challenges. Buyers often require different product standards, sizes, thicknesses, and strict EUDR materials regulation — all while placing greater emphasis on consistent, high-end quality compared to U.S. standards. Moreover, Europe has long-standing experience with Chinese suppliers, who offer competitive pricing, a wide range of specifications, and acceptable quality. For premium products, buyers often rely on suppliers from Russia, Ukraine, or local European sources, who can offer full birch, full-size core veneers, and top-grade face/back panels.

It is a reality that Vietnam may not yet match the premium standards set by these suppliers and EUDR materials as well. But when it comes to general-quality plywood at competitive pricing, Vietnam presents a viable and appealing option. That said, we are now seeing early signs of another price competition emerging within the Vietnamese plywood industry — raising concerns about repeating the same unstable cycle that previously led to anti-dumping issues in other markets.
At Kim Gia Plywood Mill, we believe the solution lies not in competing solely on price, but in consistently investing in product quality, raw material transparency, and sustainable growth. Our goal is not just to be an alternative — but to be a dependable, long-term partner for our customers in Europe and beyond.
No matter what market comes next, Kim Gia Plywood Mill is not standing still — we are adapting and moving forward.
