Update Reciprocal Tariffs Rates
Following the announcement from the U.S. regarding updated reciprocal tariffs on other countries:
- Official UK: 10%
- European Union: 10%
- Vietnam: 20%, and 40% for transshipped products
These proposed tariff rates are planned for countries that fail to reach a trade agreement with the U.S. by the July 9 deadline.

However, there is still some confusion regarding when the new tariffs will take effect. Some media sources report that they are unlikely to take effect before August 1.
Based on this new announcement from the U.S., if the 20% tariff rate goes into effect, it could still be considered a reasonable outcome for Vietnam’s export industry. However, Vietnam’s woodworking sector continues to face other challenges, notably the anti-dumping investigation that has been kicked off from June 2025.
