The release of the decision of Vietnam Plywood Anti Dumping Investigation is now due on May 26.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam recently reported that the US Department of Commerce (DOC) has given another extension for the issuance of its final decision regarding an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy tax evasion investigation on hardwood plywood imported from Vietnam.
The DOC had already issued a preliminary conclusion last year, stating that any plywood imported from Vietnam and that used peeled board from China as its core would be subject to anti-dumping and anti-subsidy tax. In contrast, plywood using domestically made or other foreign-made core boards would be exempt from tax. The temporary tax rate could be as high as 378.26%.
However, the DOC allows Vietnamese Plywood Enterprises involved in the investigation process to proclaim that they do not use Chinese materials to avoid the measures. Nearly 80% of these businesses participate in the self-certification process during the investigation period.
