Vietnam Film Faced Plywood for European market

Vietnam plywood industry is facing uncertainty after recent U.S. announcements: several CVD and Anti Dumping tariffs have been applied to plywood imports from Vietnam and anti-dumping duties expected by the end of February 2026. These developments have made some U.S. buyers hesitant to continue sourcing from Vietnam, prompting supply-chain shifts to other countries. Losing the U.S.—one of the largest consumption markets—would put Vietnamese suppliers under significant pressure, especially against Chinese Suppliers that can outstanding compete on quality, volume, and price.

Fortunately, the EU’s recent anti-dumping measures on Chinese wood and plywood have redirected many European buyers toward Vietnam as an alternative source. However, European clients bring different expectations: stricter product standards, unfamiliar sizes and thicknesses, varied materials, and a stronger emphasis on quality compared with U.S. requirements.

Vietnam Film faced plywood is currently one of Vietnam’s most suitable and popular products. Although many Vietnamese manufacturers produce film-faced plywood, not every factory is ready to meet the requirements of European buyers, who expect compliance with sustainability regulations (EUTR/EUDR), FSC certification, and specific quality standards—often requiring alignment with CE systems.

At Kim Gia Plywood Factory, we are proactively adapting to these market changes. Actions taken include:

– Establishing a professional laboratory to ensure consistent film-faced plywood quality with physical testing aligned to EN 636 (1), formaldehyde testing with EN717-1:2004 standard (2) to meet E1 limits, and glue testing per EN 314 (3).

– Strengthening traceability and sustainability: our wood sourcing is traceable with EUDR documentation and geolocation mapping, and we are working with veneer suppliers to develop FSC-certified plantation areas to meet growing European demand for certified materials.

– Implementing robust QA/QC processes to maintain stable, high-quality output at scale.

These investments position Kim Gia to meet European buyers’ expectations and to remain competitive as global trade patterns evolve.
